Armenian chess players drop out of World Cup 2009

PanARMENIAN.Net - On November 21, Khanty-Mansiysk, Russia, hosted 128 participants of World Cup 2009 chess championship. Two Olympic champions, Armenia's Gabriel Sargsyan and Tigran Petrosyan dropped out of championship, defeated by Georg Meier (Germany) and Li Chao (China).

 

Varuzhan Hakobian of the US was the only Armenian chess player to win 9:7 victory over Russia's Pavel Tregubov.
