Armenia made a draw with Russia at World Team Chess Championship

Armenia made a 2:2 draw with Russia in the 7th round of the World Team Chess Championship in Bursa, Turkey.



The results of the round:

Levon Aronian - Grischuk, Alexander - 0,5-0,5

Vladimir Akopian - Alexander Morozevich - 1-0

Gabriel Sargsyan - Eugene Tomaszewski - 0-1

Arman Pashikyan - Vladimir Malakhov - 0,5-0,5



Currently, the U.S. are leading with 12 (18) points; Russia dropped to the second position with 11 (17.5).Armenian grandmasters after 3 victories, 2 draws and 2 defeats are the fifth with 8 (15) points.

World Chess Team Championship

FIDE holds World Chess Team Championship since 1985. 10 strongest teams of the world, selected in Chess Olympiads and continental team championships take part in it. During the first championship matches were held on 6 boards, and in next tournaments - on 4 boards. The venue of the first four tournaments was chosen the Swiss city of Lucerne, then it was decided to hold competitions in different cities. In 2001, the championship was held in Yerevan. The National Team of Armenia in 1997, 2001 and 2005, won the bronze medals.
