Armenian President calls healthcare situation shameful, urges reforms

PanARMENIAN.Net - On Saturday, September 29 Armenian President Serzh Sargsyan visited Pharmatech pharmaceutical company to familiarize himself wit the activities of the manufacturer and importer of medicines.

Following the visit, the Armenian leader held a discussion focusing on mechanisms of state control in the sector of healthcare, provision of affordable medical help and drug-related policies.

During the discussion, the President specifically stressed serious issues in Armenia’s healthcare system, noting the widespread public discontent over the medical services rendered.

After the reports of the relevant officials on the market of medical products as well as a number of abusive practices in the sector, the Armenian leader called the situation shameful.

President Sargsyan harshly criticized the inactivity of Armenian Healthcare Ministry and the officials responsible, instructing those in charge to develop a program of urgent reforms to be submitted for approval within 6 months.
