Armenia hosts men’s chess championship draw

PanARMENIAN.Net - Armenia hosted a draw for 73rd men’s chess championship on Jan 11.

Armenian’s Chess Federation Vice President Smbat Lputyan voiced hope the event will feature interesting battles.

The first round board pairings have been announced as follows: Tigran Petrosian vs Hrant Melkumyan, Robert Hovhannisyan vs Avetik Grigoryan, Tigran Kotanjian vs Arman Pashikian, Hovik Hayrapetyan vs Samvel Ter-Sahakyan, Robert Aghasaryan vs Zaven Andriasian.

The championship will feature 9 rounds, with 1-3 place winners to gain entry to 2014 Armenia championship and 1-5 place winners to participate in European Individual Championship.
