Armenian’s Chess Federation Vice President Smbat Lputyan voiced hope the event will feature interesting battles. The first round board pairings have been announced as follows: Tigran Petrosian vs Hrant Melkumyan, Robert Hovhannisyan vs Avetik Grigoryan, Tigran Kotanjian vs Arman Pashikian, Hovik Hayrapetyan vs Samvel Ter-Sahakyan, Robert Aghasaryan vs Zaven Andriasian. The championship will feature 9 rounds, with 1-3 place winners to gain entry to 2014 Armenia championship and 1-5 place winners to participate in European Individual Championship.
