Google marks Genocide centennial by black ribbon

PanARMENIAN.Net - Users of the largest internet search engine, Google, could see a black ribbon on the site in memory of the victims of the 1915 Armenian Genocide.

The company, however, placed the black ribbon in the .am domain only, Armenia Now reports.

Months ago, a petition was launched on Change.org website, addressing the American company with a request to place a Google Doodle on April 24 in remembrance of the victims of the Armenian Genocide. More than 200.000 users signed the petition.

“Google placed a black ribbon in the memory of the Genocide victims. Although they refrained from using the G-word, but still this is an unprecedented thing by Google. This image appeared only on Google.am domain. It does not matter where you enter it from, but you have to access it from .am,” media expert Samvel Martirosyan said in his Facebook post, explaining that the petition does not have anything to do with the installation of this image.
