VivaCell-MTS employees help boost voluntary activities in Armenia

PanARMENIAN.Net - December 5 has been set by the United Nations as the International Volunteer Day, aiming to draw peoples’ attention to this very important concept and inspire the humanity to initiate and engage in voluntary activities for public good.

Armenia’s Leading Telecommunications Operator VivaCell-MTS is known as a pioneer of corporate responsibility in Armenia, having implemented large-scale and long term social investment projects in a number of sectors. The Company is the only telecommunications operator in Armenia and the first company in the CIS to have implemented ISO 26000 Social responsibility guidelines.

Guided by their free will, and completely independent from social investment agenda of the Company, VivaCell-MTS employees have raised funds and engaged in numerous activities aimed at creating key infrastructure or helping target groups of the society. These activities include, but are not limited to participation in tree-planting activities, establishment of computer classes, participation in massive house-building projects in rural communities, installation of heating systems and water pumps for kindergartens, building fences for schools in border villages, construction of fence around Vedi church, and much more.

Among the most remarkable projects implemented through VivaCell-MTS General Manager Ralph Yirikian's personal donations are the establishment of the first inclusive playground in Armenia in Yerevan Zoo, where a fiber-optical network was installed, as well as provision of modern equipment to the Urtsadzor-based Caucasus Wildlife Refuge for biodiversity survey. Also, Yirikian supported the construction of water supply networks in Chkalov village of Lori province, and Ushi village in Aragatsotn province.

VivaCell-MTS staff has also chosen to benefit public good through voluntary support, aiming to help enhance the quality of life of their compatriots.
