Azerbaijani wrestlers to lose Olympic medals after failing doping tests

PanARMENIAN.Net - Several Azerbaijani, Ukrainian and Kazakh wrestlers will lose the Olympic medals they won at Beijing 2008 and London 2012 after testing positive for doping, Haqqin.az reports.

The names of the Olympians are yet to be announced.

Azerbaijan’s Ministry of Sport and Youth Affairs on Wednesday, August 31 declined to comment on the matter, claiming it hasn’t received any official note from relevant authorities. No formal clarification from the United World Wrestling (UWW) or the International Olympic Committee has been received yet.

Toghrul Asgarov and Sharif Sharifov won a gold medal each at the London Games, while Khetag Gazyumov secured bronze medals during both Beijing and London Olympics.
