Yerevan to host international friendly box tournamentFebruary 4, 2009 - 20:54 AMT PanARMENIAN.Net - Initiated by Armenian Box Federation, first-ever International friendly tournament between junior teams of Armenia, Russia, Georgia and Kazakhstan will take place from Feb. 16 to Feb. 18 in Demirchyan Sport & Concert Complex. As a PanARMENIAN.Net reporter was informed in the press office of the Armenian Box Federation, a team competition will take place, that is, the tournament winner will be determined based on team results. International category referee, vice president of the Armenian Box Federation Derenik Gabrielyan has been appointed as the chief referee of the tournament, which appears as a chance to make a preliminary assessment of young boxers' training and abilities before junior World Championship on Box takes place from May 23 to May 30 in Yerevan. It's worth mentioning that Armenian junior box team of already started to prepare themselves for the World Championship under the direction of chief coach Fedya Alexanyan. From Jan. 14 to Jan. 28, , Armenian Box Federation already conducted training for junior and adult boxers in Tsakhkadzor health resort. Meanwhile, from Feb. 23 to Feb 27 Young Boxers' Championship will take place in Armenia and from March 1 to March 7 Yerevan will host a championship between junior boxers. Based on results of above mentioned sporting events the Federation will determine combined teams' structure at the Championships of World and Europe.
