Aronian: As long as Armenians preserve identity, they are facing danger

PanARMENIAN.Net - Armenian grandmaster Levon Aronian, who has been representing the United States for several months now, has posted a message on his Facebook page to commemorate the 107th anniversary of the Genocide. According to him as long as Armenians remember and preserve their identity, they are going to face danger.

"April 24 marks the 107th anniversary of the Armenian Genocide. An event that fundamentally changed the path of our nation. Through the efforts of Turkey in 1915, people like you and me were expelled from the lands of our ancestors, killed or forced to assimilate with other peoples," Aronian said.

"And as the events of recent years have shown, our enemies never gave up their ambitions, trying to revive the Ottoman Empire."

The grandmaster said it is difficult to be and remain an Armenian.

"As long as we remember and preserve our cultural, religious, historical identity, we are facing and will continue to face the danger that has been haunting us for centuries,” he added.

On April 24, 1915, a large group of Armenian intellectuals was rounded up and assassinated in Constantinople by the Ottoman government. On April 24, 2022, Armenians worldwide commemorated the 107th anniversary of the Genocide which continued until 1923. Some three dozen countries, hundreds of local government bodies and international organizations have so far recognized the killings of 1.5 million Armenians as Genocide. Turkey denies to this day.
