Russia: Armenia’s withdrawal from CSTO not on the tableFebruary 1, 2024 - 16:17 AMT PanARMENIAN.Net - Armenia’s withdrawal from the CSTO is not on the agenda today, Viktor Vasiliev, Ambassador at Large of the Russian Foreign Ministry for CSTO issues, has said in an interview with RIA Novosti. The diplomat noted that the CSTO’s attention today is focused on implementing the decisions of the CSTO Collective Security Council held in November 2023. “Documents adopted during said session of the CSTO Collective Security Council, in which the Armenian side did not participate, are now under Yerevan’s consideration. Some of these documents have been approved by the Armenian side, from which we can conclude that Armenia’s withdrawal from the CSTO is not on the table,” Vasiliev said. Asked about Yerevan’s non-participation in CSTO events, the diplomat noted that it was the choice of the Armenian leadership, although he claimed the decision was made under pressure. “In many ways, this situation is both the result of pressure from Westerners and the understandable emotions of the leadership and residents of Armenia,” he noted.
