Armenian youth fighters to compete for gold

PanARMENIAN.Net - At the Umakhanov International Boxing Tournament in Kaspiysk, three members of Armenia’s under-23 national team have advanced to the finals, the Armenian Boxing Federation reports.

The finalists are:

  • Manvel Petrosyan (63.5 kg),
  • Harutyun Hakobkokhyan (71 kg),
  • Marat Mikaelyan (75 kg).

In the semifinals, Petrosyan defeated an opponent from Uzbekistan, Hakobkokhyan overcame a Venezuelan boxer, and Mikaelyan won against a Russian representative.

The finals are scheduled for September 20.

The Armenian team, led by Rudik Mkrtchyan and Robert Petrosyan, is participating at the initiative of Federation president Hovhannes Hovsepyan. The tournament also serves as preparation for the U23 European Championships to be held in Yerevan in November.
