Around 5,000 scientists work in scientific institutions of Armenia

PanARMENIAN.Net - Chairman of the RA State Committee of Science Samvel Harutyunyan said that around 15,000 scientists are registered in the Committee's database, while 300 of them are abroad currently.

Around 5,000 scientists currently work in scientific institutions of Armenia, Harutyunyan told a PanARMENIAN.Net reporter.

"Funds are envisaged to be allocated in 2011 from the state budget to publish works in famous scientific magazines," noted Harutyunyan.

Meanwhile, the Armenian Association for Academic Partnership and Support (ARMACAD) is working on creation of a network of scientists of Armenian descent. The Association is going to offer the RA Ministry of Education and Science to develop the network jointly.

"Currently, 35-40 Armenians study at Harvard, 10 of them are doing their PhD; 10 people will become graduates of Oxford, while two Armenians are doing their PhD at Yale University," Chairman of ARMACAD Khachik Gevorgyan told a PanARMENIAN.Net reporter.

The network's creation will allow not only registering the scientific potential, but also exchanging experience among Armenian scientists.
