Another memorial day of Heydar Aliyev in Azerbaijan

You can nowhere find a correct version of Aliyev’s biography; like Stalin, he always changed his biography for political and timeserving reasons.

Whatever has been happening in Azerbaijan for the past 40 years is associated with Heydar Aliyev. Sometimes it seems that Heydar has lived always; he founded the Azerbaijan Democratic Republic in 1918, established the Soviet regime and overthrew it, not to mention his presidency. And because the works of such magnitude must not be forgotten, there is a holiday in the neighboring republic: the day when national leader Heydar Aliyev came to power in Azerbaijan. On July 14, 1969 Heydar Aliyev was elected the First Secretary of the Communist Party of Azerbaijan and according to newly-made Azeri historians and hangers-on, the history then started from a new sheet.

PanARMENIAN.Net - We are not going to retell the story of Aliyev’s life, especially because you can nowhere find a correct version of Aliyev’s biography; like Stalin, he always changed his biography, for political and timeserving reasons. In a word, not the clean potato! His place of birth, year of birth and nationality are all inexact. By and large, all these are details, and the most important thing is that Aliyev created the Azerbaijan of today, i.e. a hereditary sultanate. Meanwhile, he lost the Nagorno-Karabakh and part of the Armenian lands stolen by his predecessors, the Communists. The former KGB Major-General knew that sooner or later NKR would come out of Azerbaijan, and he did his best to drive the Armenians out of Karabakh and other Azerbaijani regions. To some extent he succeeded - the Armenian community in Azerbaijan has been destroyed. And his son’s current statements about the “return of ancestral lands of Azerbaijan” are nothing but a gallery play, and most often they no longer work. These statements, in fact, hide a serious risk: in order to become a lifelong ruler of the country, Ilham Aliyev, without waiting for amendments to the Constitution, may start a war, during which he would declare himself president, or rather a specific princeling of a small khanate. But, so to speak, these are his problems. It is quite interesting to read the Azeri media, in which Heydar Baba is described as anything for his people. A little lower than God, but far greater than the rest.

In fact, everything is not so simple, because the opening of monuments in all the villages and towns of Azerbaijan, as well as permanent mentions about Aliyev cannot feed a country possessing energy resources by chance, but yet living in poverty. However, on the other hand, it must be admitted that a great many people have been caught in the meshes of the nationwide leader. What’s the price of the latest opus of Corresponding Member of the National Academy of Sciences of Azerbaijan, Professor Vagif Abbasov, “Lessons from the Life of the Great, Wise and Conquerors”? The publication consists of 19 chapters, each devoted to the life of such great conquerors, scholars, politicians and thinkers as Prophet Muhammad, Attila, Isaac Newton, Ataturk, Ibn Sina, Theodore Roosevelt, Heydar Aliyev, etc. Probably all of these great people would turn in their graves, had they been a neighbor to the KGB General and dictator. But, as the saying goes, it’s a matter of taste. If Aliyev Jr. likes it, it can be published. The only truth in the whole story is that sooner or later the Aliyev clan will be out of the saddle, and all his advocates, foaming at the mouth, will try to prove the infinite damage that the family did on Azerbaijan. By the way, we have already discussed this in our previous articles.

In passing, a festive concert and fireworks are organized in the National Park after Heydar Aliyev (it couldn’t be otherwise!) on July 14.

Probably, we needn’t have paid so much attention to this kind of “memorable dates” in the modern history of Azerbaijan, but without this it would be very difficult to understand what is really happening in the neighboring republic. And all the aggressive and provocative statements by President Ilham Aliyev are nothing but an inferiority complex. It is difficult to live in the shadow of such a father, i.e. in the shadow of such an image, constantly fostered for the past 15 years.
