Vic Darchinyan:

I enjoy spending my vacation with my family in Armenia

PanARMENIAN.Net - PanARMENIAN.Net presents the second part of the interview with IBO bantamweight champion Vic Darchinyan on the threshold of his fight against Evans Mbamba of South Africa. One of the most favorite Armenian boxers tells about his family, favorite dishes and plans for the future.
Who is the best boxer in the world for you?
I think it's Mike Tyson. When I was a child I dreamed to fight with him and I wanted to be strong like him. But, unfortunately, I'm not tall and fight in lightweight division. I also think Manny Pacquiao to be a strong and clever boxer.

Many boxers are starring in films. Did you have any offers?
I was offered a documentary about my career, that is how I took up boxing, about my fights and achievements.

Let's talk about your family. How did you get acquainted with your wife?
I met her in 2001, when I was invited to fight for Australia. We met near Opera House in Sydney and got married in a year.

Which is your favorite cuisine?
I love seafood. It's very popular in Australia. And certainly, I am fond of Armenian cuisine. Food must be tasty, that's the most important thing.

Which dishes does your wife cook?
Borsch, meat dumplings… She cooks well.

Your son is 4 years old. Who is more engaged in his upbringing?
Both of us. Ruben is a clever but shy boy. We want him to be communicative and simple. I became such thanks to my parents and want my son to be the same.

What does your wife do?
She is an English teacher. She arrived in Australia for a training course but stayed there with me. Now she doesn't work, as she is bringing up our son.

Who is your best friend?
I have several true friends, who are always by my side and are present at all my fights. They are two Armens and Vahan from Armenia, Jamal from Lebanon and my Australian manager Elias. I am happy to have such friends.

How would you describe yourself?
Oh, it's so hard to speak about myself. You had better ask the others about me.

Which is the best way to spend your holidays?
I enjoy spending my vacation with my family in Armenia.

You have fans in almost all countries across the globe. What would you like to tell the people who always support you?
I want to thank all of them. I saw defeats my career and I am thankful to all who were by my side and supported me in difficult times.

To end our talk, you can say anything you wish now.
I want to win three more belts and make a new boxing history. I wish all Armenians peace, love and success. And thank you for a nice conversation.
