Armenia’s state debt still minimal, official saysMay 23, 2016 - 13:37 AMT PanARMENIAN.Net - Armenia’s state debt, estimated at about AMD 2.457 trillion ($5.079 billion) in 2015, is still considered minimal, Deputy Finance Minister Atom Janjughazyan said, according to Tert.am. Addressing the National Assembly Standing Committees' meeting on Monday, May 23, the official elaborated on the external and internal debts, which he said amount to $4.317 billion and $761 million, respectively. “The debt burden is estimated according to internationally accepted criteria which suggest that Armenia continues being a country with minimal debt,” he noted. Janjughazyan, who is also Armenia’s chief treasurer, said the government is mindful of the risks and other possible scenarios. The country’s dept has climbed by 51% in the last 7 years.
