EU to financially assist Armenia in anti-corruption fight

PanARMENIAN.Net - The European Union is ready to provide financial assistance to help Armenia fight corruption, Head of the EU Delegation to Armenia, Ambassador Piotr Switalski said on Wednesday, February 1.

Speaking at the launch of the Stop Corruption information campaign, Switalski said the EU has already provided €15 million to Armenia and is ready to offer assistance also in the implementation of events organized as part of the fight against corruption.

The ambassador commended the current government's anti-corruption efforts, stressing the importance of criminalization of illicit enrichment and increase of responsibility towards property.

Also, he said hopes for rapid economic growth and sustainable development can never be realized without fighting corruption in the country, Aysor.am reports.
