Armenia is awarded diploma of Veneto region of Italy at Venice Architecture Biennale

PanARMENIAN.Net - Director of the National Museum and Institute of Architecture Ashot Grigoryan said that Armenia participates in 2010 Venice Architecture Biennale held on August 29-November 21 under the motto: People Meet in Architecture.

Three Armenian projects are featured at the exhibition – the architecture of the house-museum of Charles Aznavour presented by Narek Sargsyan’s studio, Central Square in Gyumri presented by Garegin Yekhoyan’s studio. And Ashot Grigoryan became the third participant with his idea: “The Armenian Chain of Mountains as Supporting Point of Architecture Idea.”

Armenia’s pavilion has been awarded a diploma of the Veneto region of Italy.

“We are still among the countries, which have architecture, what is important for Armenia. Besides, through architecture exhibitions we have attempted to achieve an important goal – to unite Armenian architects from every corner of the world and use their potential in Armenia,” Grigoryan told a press conference in Yerevan.

According to him, the main prize of the architecture biennale is awarded for contribution to the world architecture. “Unfortunately, there are not eminent architects in Armenia who have made a contribution to the world architecture, but we should aspire towards it,” concluded Grigoryan.
