RA police: ANC supporters applied force against policeman

PanARMENIAN.Net - Armenian police disseminated a statement on detainment of four activists of the Armenian National Congress (ANC).

“On November 9, at 10:30am, Areg Gevorgyan (born in 1987), Sargis Ghazaryan (1992), Sargis Gevorgyan (1992) and Vahagn Gevorgyan (1991) were brought to the central police station from Charles Aznavour Square.

The aforementioned persons had not followed the lawful demands of policemen providing public order at the square and applied force against a policeman, rending his uniform,” the statement reads.

A forensic medical examination will be carried out. Details of the incident are being clarified. Investigation has been launched.

From 12:00pm the ANC is holding a six-hour picket at Charles Aznavour Square near the building, which hosts 2-day EU-Armenia Civil Society Seminar.
