Unemployment rate in Armenia made 7%

PanARMENIAN.Net - As of December 1, 2009, the unemployment rate in Armenia made 7% against 6.3% index at the beginning of the year.



"The number of people looking for job totaled 99993, with 82 901 of them granted the status of unemployed," said Sona Harutyunyan, head of State Employment Service Agency.



"Thanks to the efforts of the Armenian government and assistance rendered by international organizations the republic could avoid layoffs," she said. "Only 1200 people were discharged this year."
