ARMENIAN PEACEKEEPERS DEPARTED FOR IRAQ

PanARMENIAN.Net - The solemn seeing-off ceremony of the Armenian military specialists, who are to join the forces of the international coalition in Iraq, took place at 10 a.m. local time today. Defense Minister Serge Sargsian and US Ambassador to Armenia John Evans participated in the ceremony. Captain Garush Avetisian has been appointed the commander of the Armenian forces. It's the second time Armenia is participating in peacekeeping operations. The Armenian battalion of 36 servicemen, forming a part of the Greek forces, has been in Kosovo since February 2004.
