HRD: Tortured, mutilated bodies of children, women transferred from Karabakh to Armenia

PanARMENIAN.Net - Many bodies, including children’s and women’s, with signs of torture and mutilation, have been transported to Armenia from Nagorno-Karabakh, Armenian Human Rights Defender Anahit Manasyan told reporters on Thursday, October 19, Sputnik Armenia reports.

The Ombudsman's Office has prepared a preliminary report in English, which has already been submitted to the Hague Court.

Manasyan noted that factual evidence has sybmitted to all international partners in both written and oral forms.

According to her, much work has been carried out to collect facts regarding cases of torture and mutilation.

At the same time, the Human Rights Defender found it difficult to answer the question of how many Armenian citizens Baku is actually holding. What is clear is that Azerbaijan resorts to all kinds of restrictions and violations of human rights in relation to ethnic Armenians, she said.

On September 19, Azerbaijan launched a military offensive against Nagorno-Karabakh, which left hundreds of Armenians killed and thousands of others displaced. On September 20, the authorities of Nagorno-Karabakh agreed to a ceasefire on Azerbaijan’s terms, including the dissolution of the Defense Army. On September 18, President of the Republic of Artsakh Samvel Shahramanyan signed a decree, according to which the Republic of Nagorno-Karabakh (Artsakh) will cease to exist by January 1, 2024. Over 100,000 displaced residents have already fled Nagorno-Karabakh and reached Armenia.
