Priest: sectarians attack AAC since Armenia’s independence

PanARMENIAN.Net - Priest of the Holy Trinity Church of Yerevan Yesai Artenyan said the blame for the attack of followers of Jehovah’s Witnesses sect on him rests with the Armenian legislation, but not some persons.

Sectarians have been massively attacking the Armenian Apostolic Church since the very first day of Armenia’s independence.

“Law enforcers should deal with the attacks on priests. I should note that Armenia’s adherence to European values leads to collapse of the country and church,” Artenyan told a press conference in Yerevan.

Besides, he urged journalists to write about the Armenian Apostolic Church based on facts, but not rumors.

According to meedia reports, on May 15, two followers of Jehovah’s Witnesses sect attacked Yesai Artenyan and beat him in the yard of the Holy Trinity Church in response to the priest’s demand to stop preaching in the church territory. The beating was accompanied by bad language and threats.
