Expert: snake aggression caused by human intrusion in their territories

PanARMENIAN.Net - Snake aggression is caused by launch of construction works in the snakes’ habitats, the head of nature reserves department at Armenian Nature Protection Ministry stated.

As Aram Aghasyan told a news conference in Yerevan, 23 species, only 4 of them poisonous colubrid snakes, including a blunt-nosed viper, are registered in Armenia.

According to Mr. Aghasyan, the bite of a blunt-nosed viper, the most common species, can be lethal, unless correct medical help is offered. The expert recommended against tours over the fields at night time, the most active period for snakes in summer.
