Political parties promised to help individuals with disabilities

PanARMENIAN.Net - Forum devoted to disability access issues was held today in Yerevan with the participation of NGO Chairs Armen Alaverdyan (Unison), Suren Ohanyan ("Paros"), Levon Nersisyan (Astghik) and representatives from different political parties and candidates for Yerevan Aldermen's Council.

"Public awareness of disability issues is very important. During elections, electoral commissions do not absolutely do anything to help individuals with disabilities. Why are elections held on second and not first floors of building? And how come that only newly-built constructions correspond to all norms and laws? Nothing has changed for the better in our lives. Disability laws are written in a very nice language, but they do not function. We hope that newly elected Aldermen will make real steps to solve our problems," "Unison" NGO Chair Armen Alaverdyan said.

Political party members and candidates for Aldermen's Council promised to do their utmost to help individuals with disabilities in future.
