DETECON offers formation of three-stage network hierarchy in Armenia

Armenian cellular operator VivaCell-MTS joined the Armenian Fund for Internet Traffic Exchange (ARMIX), following Orange Armenia, ADC, Ucom, iCon, Web, Apaga Technologies, GNC Alfa, Shirak Technologies and other telecommunications companies.

PanARMENIAN.Net - DETECON, one of the world's leading consulting companies, offers formation of three-stage network hierarchy in Armenia. The company is going to submit a final report on Armenia’s telecommunication infrastructure. The aim of the project is creation of high-speed broadband Internet. According to preliminary calculations, the project will cost $24 million and its implementation will take from 3 to 5 years. The tender will be announced in June-July 2010.

NeoMedia company has launched Armenix microblogging service, having completed 1,5- year preparatory works.

In contrast to Twitter, Armenix will be offering 200 symbol message content, as well as a possibility of attaching videos, pictures, text files. The new microblogginbg service contains elements of social network, allowing for post comments and RSS flow.

There are around 50,680 users of Facebook social network in Armenia. According to data provided by Facebook to its advertisers, there are 22220 male and 26500 female users, while 39,400 users of the social network in Armenia are above 20.

According to statistics of Alexa.com rating system, Facebook.com social network is the second by the number of visits in Armenia. Today, the British and U.S. embassies in Armenia have their pages on Facebook. Meanwhile, the number of users of Russian Odnoklassniki.ru social network is over 300,000 people in Armenia, while there are 155,083 users of another Russian popular social network - Vkontakte.ru.

Armenia’s government has several times requested Google to remove URLs from Google’s search index, however, none of the requests was complied, Google corporation reported through its new app - Government Requests. It is a Google Maps app that shows how many requests each nation’s government made for users’ personal information or for the removal of the URLs from Google’s search index from July to December 2009, as well as with how many of them Google complied. Thus, the corporation continues its struggle against Internet censorship. The number of requests from majority of countries, including Armenia, is below ten. The following countries are leaders by the number of their requests: Brazil – 3663, U.S. – 3580, Great Britain – 1166, India – 1061 and France – 846.
